Safety Helmets
Safety Helmets (sometimes called Climbing Style Hard Hats) are becoming an industry norm. They have a lot of great features that standard hard hats do not have. Most importantly, they have a chin strap so the hard hat stays in place and won't move or fall off the users head. The hard hat also sits lower on the users head for a more comfortable fit.
On December 11, 2023, OSHA announced a switch from traditional hard hats to safety helmets to protect agency employees from head injuries. See the Trade Release here
Safety Helmets are being recommended for use by workers:
- In the construction and oil and gas industries.
- In high-temperature, specialized-work and low-risk environments.
- Involved in electrical work or when at height.
- Who are required to do so by regulations or industry standards.
