Elevator Maintenance Rags, Wipes & Absorbents
General purpose cleaning supplies for elevator maintenance
Currently there are more than 84,000 elevators in New York City. As cities continue to grow vertical, elevators are being implemented more and more. The shaft and pistons need to be kept clean to help the elevator operate smoothly. When dealing with elevators, two main products are used almost every time; absorbent pads and wiping rags.
Due to the hydraulic oil, wiping rags need to be handy. Rags that actual absorb the excess oil instead of just pushing it around can save a lot of time and money. That is why we always suggest our cotton polo (0106). These rags may have logos and seems, but the cotton material will soak up the fluid and oil. Typically rags come in a large cardboard box, but due to the size of the shaft space becomes a priority. We can package our rags in 10 or 25 compressed bags (0106-bag-25) which are a huge space saver not only on in the shaft but also on the technician trucks. Some customers prefer rags that provide strength to fight any job, for these we suggest terry towel rags (O131) or huck towels (O120).
If hydraulic oil begins to puddle and pool at the base of the shaft, no rag will do the trick. For this situation you need an oil only absorbent pads, rolls or booms. Pads come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but having a pack of pads on site is all that our customers need. These packs come in three main weights – heavyweight, medium weight and economy. Heavyweight absorbent pads (A100WSMH) absorb 28.8 gallons of oil based substance and are meant for the largest of spills. Our most popular pad, the medium weight absorbent pad (A100WSMS) absorbs 22.4 gallons and will suffice for 90% of jobs. Lastly, our economy pads have 200 (A200WSMS) pads per pack and can absorb 28.8 gallons.
Recently, we unrolled an absorbent sticky roll that has been very popular within the elevator industry. Our absorbent sticky roll (A36X100XSM) replaces ram board and masonite. Because of the adhesive backing these rolls will stick to vinyl, tile or carpet and can be used when doing modernization jobs. This roll (check out this blog to see the roll in use) helps elevator companies ensure the cleanliness of their customers business or homes by having an absorbent carpet top layer.
