Plastics Manufacturing – absorbents, gloves and rags
For as long as Y-pers has been around (since 1922), we have always had customers in the plastics industry. Manufacturing plastics isn’t just bottles, but also dispensers, containers for food and plastic cores for packaging. We know that it is important to have a variety of rags, wipes, absorbents and gloves specifically for the plastics industry.
Products, like most plastics, that are going directly to the end user need to be clean and look good. Rags and wipes for plastic manufacturing is one of the things we do best! Some customers prefer to use cotton rags for plastics manufacturing. Cotton rags have been a staple of plastics manufacturing for a long time, as they are super absorbent, consistent, and low-linting. The most popular rags for the plastics manufacturing industry are the O106, O130, N209 and N208.
More recently, paper shop wipes have become more popular in the industry. Paper shop wipes for plastic manufacturing are a great alternative to cotton rags. Paper shop wipes come in a variety of strengths and price points. If you are looking for a wipe to use just once and dispose of, our Shur Wipes will do the trick (PS800). If these aren’t strong enough for you, our heavy weight DRC wipes (PB1000) last longer, are more durable and more absorbent. Finally, our Endura and X-tra Tuff line of wipes (seen below) are one of the strongest and most low linting wipes that we carry. These wipes come in a variety of packaging options:
PS000WH | P500RW | PPS600PR |
In addition to wipes and rags, we also carry absorbent pads. Dealing with material that needs to be manufactured, often times you will be using oil, grease or other lubricants during production. To keep your manufacturing floor clean and safe, it is important to lay down absorbent pads underneath or around machinery that may splatter or leak.
If your liquids are oil-only, you should use our oil only absorbent pads which are always white (oil only pads and rolls). If the liquids involve more than just oil and may be water based, then using our universal absorbent pads will be best (universal pads and rolls links). Plastics manufacturing can involve some pretty large machinery. There are times where spills may require more than just a few pads. It is important to keep spill kits – both oil only and universal – on site and strategically placed around your facility. This will make clean up quick and easy if a larger spill were to occur.
A lot of jobs in a plastics manufacturing facility involve multiple tasks, from taking care of your machinery, moving product around and loading up trucks. Having a glove that can used for all of these tasks will help reduce wasted time by constantly changing gloves and also keep you safe. Some of the most popular multi-task gloves are:
