Cold Temperature Work Gloves
Dealing with cold temperatures can be a difficult task. You have to balance the ability to stay warm and being able to still do your job in a comfortable manner. Having the right gloves and winter jackets can help with this.
When you don’t have to deal with snow or ice, like in a warehouse or on a loading dock we recommend leather work gloves that are winter lined. Leather work gloves are great as warehouse winter gloves because they will stand up to the rigors of driving a fork lift and moving product around. Some items we recommend are our Artic Jack line. All of our Artic Jack Leather Work Gloves are thermosock lined, to keep your hands warm:
SGL1956 | SGL1955 | SGL1966 | SGL3460 |
Driver’s gloves are a staple of any workplace. We have a line of insulated driver’s gloves so you can go from fall to winter without missing a beat. Driver’s gloves are primarily used for driving, as they have a nice texture on the gloves that will grip the wheel. They are also versatile enough to be used in material handling and going in and out of the car. Driver’s gloves come with a variety of winter linings. Red fleece lining, like the inside of a sweatshirt, are one of the linings that have been around the longest. Our driver’s gloves that have a red fleece lining are the SGL3250. If you are looking for a glove with a bit more warmth, a pile lining may be more for you. Pile lined gloves, such as the SGL3170, are some of the warmest and most comfortable gloves on the market. Finally, thermal lined gloves will provide great insulation and also good dexterity. The SGL3280, is a great example of these gloves.
If you are going to be working outside in the elements, it is more important to have a winter work glove that will not only keep your hands warm but also dry. The only way to keep your hands dry is to make sure the gloves are waterproof. There is nothing worse than working in snow and ice and having to put your hands in wet gloves. The Multi-Task Gloves with synthetic leather palm and PVC dots on the palm (SGSL926) are our go too. They are both waterproof and windproof. If you are concerned about snow getting into the gloves, the SG983 and SG981 are perfect winter gloves. Not only do these gloves protect up your arm, they also have an elastic cuff. This cuff will make sure nothing gets into the glove while working. Finally, our Ninja lined of winter work gloves – specifically the SGSSN9695 and SGSSN9690FC – have a coating all around the glove. This coating makes sure nothing gets into the glove, such as rain, sleet or snow.
Keeping your hands warm one is one thing, but keeping your body warm is another. One of our most versatile winter work jackets that will allow you to be seen in the dark winter months (because it is a Class 3 winter jacket) is our 4 in 1 Bomber Jacket (SBPCL3L). This bomber jacket is fleece insulated and the inner liner can be zipped out to be worn alone. It also features a hide away hood. A similar version of this jacket is the SBP2CL3O, which is a Class 3 winter jacket with a removable zip out fleece liner. Finally, our warmest jacket is a double insulated jacket that also comes with optional insulated bib pants. The jacket (SVT38JH), will keep you warm down to negative 27 degrees Fahrenheit, has a storm collar to protect the neck and chin from cold and 10(!) outer pockets. If you need this jacket, you will also need the accompanying pants (SVT38BP). These are insulated bib style pants have a quilted insulting liner and easy release suspenders to take on and off. Additionally, they have black shading on the bottom to hide soiling.
While we may not be able to control the weather in the winter, the one thing we can control is how we stay warm. By wearing the right winter work gloves on the job, you will stay warm. Also, choosing the right outer protection to keep your body warm will go a long way in making sure you are comfortable and safe on the job.
