The Best Heat Resistant Gloves and Oven Gloves Explained
Heat Resistant Gloves For Cooking, Maintenance, Construction and Metal Work
You know the old saying…if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Well, at Y-pers, we don’t think that holds true. We have a line of heat resistant gloves and high heat oven gloves for kitchens and manufacturing facilities. These gloves are necessary to protect your skin from getting burned when removing items from ovens, handling hot plates or dealing with hot surfaces.
Burns in the kitchen are not only caused by touching hot objects, but also (according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics), they reported 14,550 thermal burn injuries on the job. Thermal burns are different than normal burns, as they are caused by heat from open liquids, open flames and other hot objects.
The top professions that are most at risk for Thermal Burns are:
- Cooks
- Food Prep Workers
- Installation, Maintenance and Repair Workers
- Construction and extraction occupations
- Metalworkers and plastic workers
To protect against thermal burns, it is best to utilize the ASTM F1060-08 Test Method. All our heat resistant gloves are tested under this method to determine their heat resistant level. This test measures the highest contact temperature for which the time to a second degree burn is at least 15 seconds and the alarm time is 4 seconds. Meaning, it is the maximum temperature at which you have at least 15 seconds before you are injured by the heat, giving you 4 seconds of warning time. The more time you have to react, the better chance of not getting hurt.
Here are the 5 different level of heat protection and their temperature ranges, with just a few of the gloves we have that match these heat levels:
Level 1: 80 degrees Celsius or 176 degrees Fahrenheit

Level 2: 140 degrees Celsius or 284 degrees Fahrenheit
