The Best Gloves for Shoveling Snow
The Best Gloves for Shoveling Snow
Waterproof and Insulated Winter Gloves Are Ideal For Handling Snow
Shoveling snow can be a very difficult job. It doesn’t matter the type of snow – the heavy stuff that is full of water or the light fluffy stuff that blows everyone – snow shoveling can be very difficult. You can bundle up with layers of clothes and warms hats – but they aren’t as important to the job as your hands.
Besides being the first to get cold, the hands are used to grip, push and move the snow from one place to another. Some of the type qualities that are important in winter gloves are:
- Warmth – making sure the gloves are warm from the fingers to the back of the hand
- Waterproof – making sure the gloves won’t allow any snow falling from the sky or blowing around to get onto or in the gloves, which will melt and then cause your hands to be even colder
- Lining of the glove – making sure the lining is sewn into the glove so it doesn’t come out when you take your hands out at the end of the job
- Dexterity – making sure the gloves give you enough ability to move and flex your hands without being too bulky
Here are our best gloves for shoveling snow:
Ninja Ice Fully Coated
Our most popular winter glove, this glove has a fully dipped outer shelly making it snow resistant all the way around the glove. It also provides great warmth, with its fully brushed interior liner. The glove also has a coating which is repellent to liquid, so you’ll have great gripping strength even in wet conditions.
Multi-Task Moderate Climate Glove
This glove is great for all day work outside. Besides being super warm and having a water resistant outer layer, the glove has 2 other great features. One of those features is a zipper pocket on the back of the hand. This is used to put hand warmers in the glove to keep your hand warm without having those hand warmers (which can get super-hot) right against your skin. This glove also has an inner cuff with elastic around the interior, which will prevent and snow or liquid from getting down inside the glove. The outer cuff will also prevent snow from getting in.
Ninja Coral with Rough Finish
Our Ninja Coral glove has one of the roughest exteriors you’ll find in a winter glove. This means that the gripping power will go above and beyond, providing good strength in the wettest of conditions. This glove also has a fully lined interior and fully coated exterior, prevention water from getting inside.
Flex Therm Winter Lined
The Flex Therm winter lined glove is probably the best priced winter glove on the market. It has a latex rough coated on the palm and a terry lined interior. This glove is good after the snow has fallen, as it is not fully dipped and there is a chance that water can get in through the back of the hand.
PowerGrab Thermodex Hi-Vis Glove with Latex Coating
The Powergrab is a staple for hand protection in any cold weather application. One of the highest-end outdoor (or indoor) work gloves, this glove would be great for shoveling snow. It is fully dipped in a very flexible layer of latex and has a comfortable inner liner as well. The microfinish to the latex acts like suction cups that attach themselves to the item being handle (like the handle of a shovel).
G-tek Hi-Vis Latex Dipped Glove
This glove is similar to the Flex Therm Winter lined glove outlined above, but comes with a hi-vis shell for applications where you want to make sure your hands are seen. The latex coated crinkle grip is great for gripping.
Yeti-Synthetic Leather Palm Glove
The Yeti Glove – much like it’s namesake – is great for working in cold conditions. This glove has a full fleece lining and a waterproof inner liner as well. This glove has a synthetic leather palm, which may get wet when exposed to water on the outside surface, but has a waterproof liner to keep your hands warm inside.
West Chester Pro Series Hi-Vis
The West Chester Pro Series glove is great for working outdoors. It has an elastic cuff, so your hands will easily slide in and out of the gloves. Also, it has a stripe of reflective material on the back of the hands to make sure your hands are always seen.. There is a white thermal lining that is also waterproof to this glove.
